Job Overview

Job Summary: The Retail Secretary plays a major role in the following areas: Payroll, Human Resources/Insurance and Financial. Maintains a positive company image by being courteous and professional in all situations with customers and employees, and is responsible for store operations in the absence of management .

  1. Compile weekly payroll and submit to Corporate Office
  2. Monitor each department to ensure proper coverage
  3. Report to management any incidents while on duty
  4. Handle customer complaints as needed
  5. Perform opening and closing procedures
  6. Maintain absentee reports and employee calendars
  7. Conduct initial interview for position openings
  8. Process applications on potential candidates
  9. Responsible for sign-up of new employees, orientation, and training
  10. Perform general daily office procedures
  11. Complete weekly price adjustments
  12. Assist financial department, sales floor and stockroom as needed
  13. Plan weekly schedules for department associates
  14. Order supplies for office and departments
  15. Answer incoming telephone calls as assigned
  16. Run store errands as needed
  17. Operate cash register as needed
  18. Maintain a positive attitude at all times
  19. Complete other duties assigned by management

Special abilities, required skills, or education needed to perform the essential job functions: Prior knowledge of office machines, bookkeeping skills, personnel procedures and some supervising experience.

Physical demands of the job: Bending, stooping, lifting, and standing for long periods of time.
